Cloud Nine Farm

Cloud Nine Farm

Cloud Nine Farm is a biodiverse family farm growing vegetables, herbs, fruits, and plants 34 miles Northeast of Bozeman, Montana near the ranching community of Wilsall. We sell at farmer's markets in Clyde Park and Bozeman, and offer shares of our harvest through our CSA program. Our produce can also be found on the menu at the Wilsall Bar and Cafe.

We are using Permaculture design techniques to restore soils on our 20 acres of over-grazed and drought-prone rangeland. Some of the projects we are working on include water-catchment using earthworks, the establishment of native fruiting shrubs in windbreaks, and the incorporation of a rotational grazing system involving chickens, straw, and their manure to build soils on pastures we will later plant into hardy fruits like apples and plums. We are introducing legumes back onto the prairie clay, with excellent results, and look forward to increased fertility!

We currently grow vegetables and fruits on 1.5 acres, and hope to double that in the next year. We use an unheated hoop-house to produce early spring crops starting in April.

We offer bare-root fruiting perennials and trees, and native shrub and tree species for sale through a catalog that we distribute locally starting in late fall. We select a diverse array of zone 3-4 hardy berries, fruit trees, asparagus, and native species like sandcherry, wild plum, chokecherry, juneberry and distribute orders in April. Our goal is to encourage people to plant edible landscapes that produce food or medicine for people and are attractive to beneficial insect, pollinator and bird species. We also provide nursery stock in bulk for farmers and ranchers.
